Sustainable developpement

Air France is firmly committed to reducing the environmental impact of its activity and to contributing to social development by means of concrete measures:

  • To cut back on greenhouse gas emissions, Air France is constantly modernizing the fleet; it continuously monitors any unneeded fuel consumption, and supports research on renewable energies and other programmes in collaboration with environmental NGOs.
  • In the field of humanitarian aid and social development, Air France supports humanitarian projects, most particularly by offering logistical assistance to over 150 organizations, primarily for the purpose of emergency health assistance.  Complimentary carriage of passengers, medical and first aid equipment by Air France and its subsidiaries was valued for the 2008-09 financial year at around 1.6 million euros.

Through support for the Air France Foundation and the NGO Acting for Life-Groupe Développement, Air France involvement extends to protecting children in distress and development projects.

  • Air France contributes to the economy and development of all regions in which it is present (50,000 employees in the Ile-de-France region) as well as the countries it flies to.  In the Ile-de-France region around Paris, local procurement by the company in 2008 - 2009 amounted to 2.1 milliards euros (not including fuel).
